Becoming known as the famous Groundhogs Day Blizzard, this storm dumped record amounts of snowfall across the region. But of course Rich, Dave, and Erik couldnt stay home through this even though many roads became impassible.

Rich and Erik head out to Iowa where several supercells develop around us. We turn towards the northern storm and get ourselves and nice little funnel. Then train the cells back home where we enjoyed a nice lightning display.

High Risk severe weather chase to central Wisconsin leads us on the heals of the famous Arkdale / Friendship supercell that day. We end up viewing the damage from the EF-2 Arkdale WI Tornado minutes after it occured and then follow a shelf from a developing storm till trees blocked the road sometime later.

Following a small Tornado Warned storm in McHenry Co IL Erik and Rich meet up in Richmond IL where lightning stuck a tree causing it to crash on power lines close to downtown.

Erik, Rich and Dave head to Iowa for a chance at a tornado risk. We arrive ahead of a tornado warned storm but didnt see the developing tornado to the northwest. Then we run into some mechanical trouble and become delayed on the return trip missing the popular Winnebago Co IL Tornadoes.

On the way back to Illinois from the Solon Iowa tornado, we run across a developing storm near the Rochelle and Kings area. Questioning rotation from the radar, we film it using the mini dv. Someone else later has a video submitted to WREX in Rockford of a possible tornado on this non warned cell. We have yet to get this video online.

Dave and Erik chase to Dane Co Wisconsin (Madison) for a chance for large hail but end up with a surprise tornado chase. The storm spawns a 17mi sporadic tornado path across the county and we persue the storm line to Cottage Grove WI then back to Northern Illinois for a second round of hail potential.
